What is ROOT?
ROOT (Reinforcing Outcomes and Ongoing Training) is our one-of-a-kind curriculum that will help you understand Applied Behavior Analysis, learn about key concepts, and support your child’s growth at home and out in the world.
How does ROOT work?
Our training program is dynamic and customizable, with information presented in a variety of ways to suit your learning style. First, you’ll master our intensive core curriculum, Applied Behavior Analysis 101. In ABA 101, you’ll be introduced to important foundational concepts that help you better understand and guide your child’s behavior. Topics in ABA 101 include:
- Functions of Behavior
- Reinforcement vs. Punishment
- Data Collection 101
- Identifying Precursor Behaviors
- Discrete Trial Training
- Natural Environment Teaching
- ABC Data
- Manding
- Pairing
After completing the ABA 101 course sequence, you’ll move on to the “elective” portion of the ROOT program where you and your BCBA will choose courses that are most applicable to you and your family’s situation. If potty training is a goal for your child, tackle that course first! Examples of our elective courses include:
